One of the guest activities at Lopstick that’s becoming more popular every year is the Ride the Wilds ATV Experience. If you haven’t tried it, make this the year!
First, today’s models of All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) are incredible machines: easy to operate, safe and sturdy, yet designed to take riders deep into our North Country wilderness on more than 1,000 miles of interconnected roads and trails. You can scale some of our local mountains, zip around our lakes and ponds, and encounter the rich variety of our local wildlife.
Next, thanks to the efforts of dozens of local volunteers and avid ATV riders (and with the assistance of a nice grant from the makers of Polaris ATVs), the trails throughout the North Country are well-maintained. Starting this year, for the first time, the local ATV clubs and volunteers are adding signage to the 1,000 miles of trails. That will make the Ride the Wilds Experience easier and safer for all.
Whether you are a novice or experienced rider, the Ride the Wilds trail system challenges riders with terrain that ranges from rugged mountain climbs to gentle woods roads to playful, muddy spots. Trails wind through the vast wilderness of northern New Hampshire and offer many vast views, pauses by wilderness waterways and mountain-top vistas.
The quaint towns along the trails welcome ATV riders. Enjoy lunch along the trail at a local restaurant or stop in the general store for fresh-made soups and sandwiches. Visit the gift shops, the three covered bridges, and the waterfalls that dot the landscape here in the North Country.
At the end of an exciting day of exploration, return to your comfortable trail-side cabin at Lopstick. Our cabins offer a variety of accommodations, many with porches, outdoor grills and some even have Jacuzzi’s and hot tubs. The perfect way to relax and ease the aches and pains after a long day riding the trails!
These are our cabins that have direct access to 125 miles of local trails:
Our local trails open on Memorial Day weekend. If you’re planning a visit to Lopstick this summer, block out a day and give the Ride the Wilds Experience a try. Many of our guests bring their own machines to ride in the Pittsburg area. If you don’t own one, you can ask our Guest Relations team to give you details about our friends at Bear Rock Adventures or Trailside Rentals who would be happy to rent you one.
