When the weather turns cold up here in the North Country, our fly fishing guys go dormant. This is not to say they do nothing, because they’re usually busy tying some new flies for next season, ordering up some great new Orvis-approved gear for the fly shop, and, of course, showing off.
Which means attending some of New England’s most popular indoor fly-fishing shows.
Bill, Chuck, and Paul will be attending the Fly Fishing Show in Marlborough, Mass. January 17-19 at the Royal Plaza Trade Center, just off I-495. There will be the usual assortment of authors and celebrity fishermen, exhibitions on fly tying, and aisles of booths of companies showing off their latest gear. Tickets are $15 per day, kids 6-12 are $5, and there are discounts for multi-day, Scouts in uniform and the military. Full details at https://flyfishingshow.com/marlborough-ma/.
A month later, you can find our Lopstick crew at the 18th annual Fly Fish New Hampshire Show on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, held at the Executive Court Banquet Facility on S. Mammoth Road in Manchester, NH. Again, there will be seminars, talks, fly tying lessons and more during this show, which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The show is sponsored by the Merrimack River Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Full information on the show is available on their website, www.merrimacktu.org.
